The Heart Check: A 5-Day Devotional for the Woman Tired of Pretending She’s Fine

There are emotions women do not always feel comfortable admitting.

We can say that we are fine. We can encourage everyone around us, care for our families, show up for work, and continue handling our responsibilities.

Yet underneath it all, we may still feel overwhelmed, disappointed, angry, afraid, or desperate to regain control.

I know because I have experienced those emotions myself.

This Devotional Came From My Real Life

After losing my father in 2016, writing became one of the ways I processed my grief. Over the years, my journals held parts of my story that were hard to say aloud—disappointment, unanswered questions, fear of failing, anger, exhaustion, and the pressure to stay strong.

I loved God, but loving God did not make me immune to difficult emotions.

Sometimes I prayed while still feeling disappointed. Sometimes fear made me want to control everything around me. Sometimes anger and unanswered prayers created distance between God and me. Other times, what appeared to be numbness was really pain I had not fully acknowledged.

Eventually, God began showing me that healing was not about pretending those feelings did not exist. Instead, He invited me to bring my real heart into His presence.

That is where The Heart Check began.

What Is The Heart Check?

The Heart Check is a five-day, faith-based devotional journal created for women who are ready to become honest about what is happening within them and bring those emotions before God.

You do not need years of church experience, polished prayers, or perfect faith to begin. You only need a willingness to come honestly.

Each day focuses on a heart condition many women quietly carry:

  • Feeling overwhelmed
  • Disappointment
  • Anger
  • Fear
  • The need for control

The devotional includes Scripture references, personal reflections, guided prayers, and journaling prompts to help you slow down and examine what may be happening beneath the surface.

This is not a five-day promise that every circumstance will change.

It is not a formula for receiving an immediate answer from God.

It is an invitation to stop hiding, striving, and pretending—and to remain with Him even when you do not have everything figured out.
